Philip Treacy: Royal Milliner

I mentioned Philip Treacy in my last posting about Concours hats and vintage fashion—so I figured I’d follow up with a posting soley dedicated to the designer and his outrageous hats. His designs are some of the most creative and talked about hats in the fashion world today. In fact, Kate Middleton decided upon him to design her hat and everyone else for the big day of the Royal wedding.

But enough talk, you must SEE these hats to understand how fabulous they really are. Here are some examples:

Kate Middleton

Princess Beatrice arriving to the Royal Wedding

Sarah Jessica Parker

Lady Frederick Windsor arriving to the Royal Wedding

Lady Gaga

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson arriving to the Royal Wedding

Victoria Beckham arriving to the Royal wedding

The list of photos just goes on and on… if you watched any recaps of the fashion from the royal wedding, then you would have seen that almost every hat the ladies wore was designed by Philip Treacy. They’re all so different but I love them all for each person the respective hats were designed for!! Which one’s your favorite?

Concours Hats

Hi guys and gals!! So I know it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything, but after the craziness of the Concours I now have much more time to do other things I love (besides my job) like oh so stylish!! The show was such a huge success and it really has everything to do with how hard the whole team works year round on the event. Truly blessed to be working with such a great group!

One of my jobs during the day of show, Concours Sunday, was to style the award presenters… aka the ramp models. I had SO much fun styling them in their fabulous dresses, hats and pearls. The dresses were handmade from Norway and purchased from the store Augustina’s in downtown Carmel. The people at Augustina’s are so wonderful and showed us the entire collection to choose from just two days after they received the dresses from Norway! The stretch lace material made the dresses fit the girls like a glove. My favorites of the dresses were the ones with see through lace sleeves (see photos below).

The hats were of course vintage and had been a part of the Concours closet for many years. They went perfectly with the dresses and made the girls look straight from the early days of the original Paris Concours. Hats to the ladies are like the classic cars to the men at the Concours, so it was important to have our award girls in some fabulous hats. After the girls presented the awards and the Best of Show car was announced, as the confetti settled, a representative from Philip Treacy approached me to talk about future hats to style the models with which was SO exciting. Now if you’re into fashion slash have a mild obsession with the royal family and their hats… and don’t know Philip Treacy, you must look him up! He’s the hottest hat designer in the UK right now and has been creating some of the the most talked about hats worn by members of the royal family and their crowd. His site is: http://www.philiptreacy.co.uk/

It was yet another very successful event full of the most amazing classic cars in the world and the ladies fit right in with their vintage outfits. Check out some of the pics I took in action on my iPhone that day:

Posing together at Pebble just before we went down onto the ramp!

Under the ramp presenting flowers to the car owners!

Here I am in the middle with my girls!! They all rocked it and looked amazing, made me so proud! Oh and the girls on the sides in the race track suits—how cute are they!? They presented the awards to the motorcycles in comfy yet stylish fashion. So much fun… Cheers!!

Trend Shopping: Feathers

I’m oh so in love with the feather accessories that are taking over the jewelry sections everywhere. Necklaces, earrings and even hair extensions are my favorite feather accessories at the moment. And the best part is that there are SO many different designs at so many different price points, you can accumulate quite the collection. A colorful pair of long feather earrings with your hair pulled back in a messy ponytail is a great way to pump up that favorite boyfriend jeans and a white tee outfit. That careless, natural California beauty is my fav look when the weather starts to warm up.

Free People. Serrano Feather Earrings. $68.

Forever 21. Vintage Peacock Necklace. $8.80.

Asos. Nude Hanging Feather Earrings. $17.93.

Happy Shopping!
